The Vibrant Fraction

25 € EUR

Starting from a reflection on the physical nature of sound and language, the project *The Vibrant Fraction* unfolds as an exploratory journey in which every discovery leads to a new direction: from musical scores for barrel organs to Braille musical notation for the blind, from the anechoic chambers of an acoustics laboratory to the Greek latomies of Syracuse as instruments of echo, from the song of the sirens to the vocalizations of humpback whales. By reconstructing a pre-musical interpretation of our relationship to sound, the project seeks to establish a sort of “diagonal science” (R. Callois) through the assonance of forms and to expand the concept of music beyond the boundaries of the senses traditionally associated with hearing—in order to discover new possible relationships with matter (vibration) and to question the human’s place within the ecosystem of sound.
